I became addicted to smoothie bowls after visiting the now closed Rustic and Blue Cafe in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Their bowls were both beautiful to look at and so satisfying to eat. Their smoothie bowls fueled my body with something beautiful and healthy and it got my day off to an excellent start while keeping me energized all day.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to smoothie bowls. There are several fruits, powders and toppings you can add to yield something stunning and easy to make.
Smoothie Bowl Ingredients
This breakfast has a few staple ingredients but still leaves room for tons of creativity and nutritional needs. The key ingredients in my dark cherry breakfast bowl are:
- Frozen Banana
- Yogurt
- Frozen Dark Cherries
- Orange Juice
I also add Bee Pollen, Ashwagandha, Maca and Lucuma which are herb and plant powders I bought after reading Amanda Chantal Bacon’s Moon Juice Cookbook. At first I didn’t believe in adding these bizarre-sounding additions to my smoothie bowls but she really proved me wrong. Anytime I add them, I have an incredibly productive day. I maintain a calm yet energetic mood and feel an unusual mental clarity.
It’s a nice reminder than the power of food is… pure power.
The Food Quest's Dark Cherry Smoothie Bowl blends together frozen bananas and dark cherries into a stunning creamy pink base and is topped with fresh berries and crispy granola. Research suggested powders prior to use as they could interfere with prescription medication or general health.
